Polkadot Unites Ethereum and Polkadot Devs at ETHRome with New Solidity Tracks
Polkadot brings native Solidity execution to ETHRome Oct 17-19 with €7,500 in prizes.

Rome, Italy — Polkadot, in collaboration with DevCult, will host dedicated Solidity tracks at the upcoming ETHRome Hackathon, taking place from October 17–19 in Rome. Continuing its mission to engage the Solidity developer community, Polkadot will showcase its newest smart contracts technology, offering hackers and technologists a unique approach to native Solidity execution on Polkadot.
Following successful appearances at ETHLisbon and ETHBelgrade, Polkadot has become a recurring presence at community-driven ETH hackathons. Polkadot’s cutting-edge approach to Solidity smart contracts allows developers to build with familiar tools and workflows—such as Remix, Hardhat, or even MetaMask—while benefiting from Polkadot’s technical advantages: low fees, fast finality, built-in cross-chain interoperability, and a robust shared-security model.

This groundbreaking combination of widely used tools with Polkadot’s native technical features is set to shape, mixing the known and the new, the next era of blockchain technology. ETHRome provides the perfect stage for developers to dive into these forward-looking innovations. A prize pool of €7,500 awaits coders submitting projects to the Polkadot tracks. Beyond monetary rewards, participants can also win exclusive NFTs and gain access to further educational opportunities within the Polkadot ecosystem.
The developer relations agency DevCult will represent Polkadot on-site, supported by engineers from Parity Technologies. Both teams will team up in mentoring hackers, attendees, and guests. DevCult will also host its signature Project Clinic workshop, helping participating teams strengthen their projects across UX, technology, and product development.
In addition, Polkadot will host a booth inspired by ancient Roman motifs, offering the latest updates on Polkadot, special merchandise, and entry points into the ecosystem.
As part of the lead-up to the hackathon, DevCult will join forces with the Polkadot Italia community for two meetups: a remote session on October 10th at Urbe HUB in Rome, and an in-person gathering on October 15th in Vicenza. These events will serve as catalysts for community activation ahead of ETHRome.
This hackathon has been co-funded by the Web3 Foundation and the Events Bounty of the Polkadot DAO.
